...BIANCA DEL RIO LUJON MAGAZINE...

...whenever i get the call from photographer julia kennedy asking if i'd like to get involved in one of her shoots i jump at the chance...julia has a great aesthetic and really appreciates props and set...

...this particular shoot was a double whammy of fun as we would be working with bianca del rio star of the sixth season of ru pauls drag race for the cover of new kid on the block lujon magazine...

..the vibe was old school hollywood glamour however the budget was almost non-existent so we had to be very resourceful...

...most of the backdrops came from julias studio and i had a good dig around my own storage for various props and materials...

...mini-me sized sets methodically stuffed into julias studio...

...artificial roses fallen at biancas feet and her beautiful dress...

...below are the final images from the shoot...click here to read the interview by alexander fury...bianca del rio...lujon magazine...photographer julia kennedy...stylist matteo sarti...hair anna cofone...make up saint warren...

...the shoot had a lush, botanical feel to it so i used tropical foliage to dress some pieces including a ladder and a living wall backdrop with mixed greenery…

…we also borrowed a great vintage car and filled it with plants and leaves...

...as you can see unfortunately the weather wasn’t quite as sunny as we would have liked but the final images-which you can see here-look gorgeous...

...SMALLISH MAGAZINE...

...the lovely fashion stylist francesca bartoli asked me if i would be interested in working on a shoot with her and the photographer ian boddy for smallish magazine..i love working with fran and ian so the answer was of course yes...the clothes fran was picking out were in pretty pale pastel shades and simple shapes so i worked on some prop ideas to fit in with that...

...we used some iridescent plastic sheeting i had brought with me to shoot through which gave everything a look of being inside a fuzzy sherbet cloud...which is a great place to be...

...i made a wire crown for the model to wear which was very fiddly to make but i love how clean and simple it looks and will need to discover what else can be made like this...

...i bought lots of pearl and matt balloons in pastel pink, turquoise, lilac, white and transparent and these fantastic marble effect ones...they didn't make it in to the final cut unfortunately but i love the combination of different colours and finishes...

...crepe paper and vellum bubbles fizzing from the floorboards up to the ceiling...

...a painstakingly handmade and delicate paper flower...

...and then the delightful looking mess left behind...

...GLASS MAGAZINE...

...i love this shoot for glass magazine which i worked on with its beauty director kim brown...i work with kim regularly and even worked with her on my very first shoot as a prop stylist...

...kim and the photographer jason hetherington wanted an modern art deco vibe for the shoot, so i created simple shaped set pieces and then covered them in glitter...i love a full glitter explosion and would probably use it every week, in this case the sparkling finishes really fitted with the look of the shoot and added an extra element...

...i could then play around with the shapes to create graphic compositions on set...as the set doesn't need to be huge for a beauty shoot there is more freedom and flexibility with ideas and of course the budget...

...he felt that upstairs had a bit of an old school gym vibe so i sourced some lovely wooden gymnastic hoops, tan suede pommel horse, beaten up gym mats and lovely wooden bench which was the same as the ones i had at school...you can see the full shoot here...

...i don't normal get behind the scenes photos of me but sam's team are on it with that sort of thing so here are pictures of me working...
