...in august red magazine approached me about their christmas cover with jools and jamie oliver at the home in essex...i obviously said yes...they just needed a few select pieces as they had already arranged a lot of things-fake snow, real reindeers and a vintage photobooth...photographer jonty davis...fashion director nicola rose...menswear stylist kenny ho...make up mary wiles...hair tony collins...
...i hired a beaten up brown leather chesterfield, draped a vintage red velvet curtain over it then sprinkled it with fake snow...
...tucked away in one of the many buildings on the olivers beautiful estate was a mustang jamie bought jools for her birthday he then had it painted glossy black with flames across the side-these two are clearly hilarious...the magazine were keen to use it for the shoot so i bought a real christmas tree in the middle of august, put it on the boot rack and dotted about some festoon with coloured bulbs...
...the photo booth was particularly brilliant as it made real developed film strips as well as digital copies the company was called retro me and they were really lovely guys and even let us have a go...they have a lot of their own dressing up props but i made some extra christmas themed pieces such as paper hats, beards and moustaches on sticks and brought along some classic santa hats, party blowers, steamers and funny festive glasses...
...this was one of the loveliest jobs i did this year...the team were an absolutely dream and i have been lucky enough to work with them since on some special projects...of course getting a sneak peek into the jamie oliver world was amazing...their home is idyllic and they are friendly, welcoming and his dad made us the most delicious breakfast and lunch!
