...BODEN MODERN MIX...

...autumn 2014 at boden required some specialist prop sourcing...photographer colette de barros...art direction polly chamier...styling charlotte handley...make up mel arter...hair peter lux...prop styling laura timmons...

...we needed some gorgeous rugs for this shoot and often the prop house selections can be a little lacking (understatement) i guess because they are expensive to buy and therefore a big investment for something which goes in and out of fashion...so i was delighted to find larusi a vintage and bespoke rug specialist which hire out for shoots...these are very special rugs-tom ford has their rugs...they were incredibly helpful inviting me to their amazing treasure-trove of a showroom and pulling out so many different rugs for me to choose from...even gifting me with a little woven exfoliator which is too pretty to use and is propped up on a shelf in my bathroom...

...you get just a glimpse of the rugs here which is a shame but thats fashion photography-its about fashion not beautiful moroccan rugs...

...also in the image above is a cushion from the brand seven gauge studios...based in nottingham (where i went to uni) joy bates designs and makes beautiful wool products in brilliant contemporary patterns but with a vintage feel...

...the client loved these and joy very kindly loan some of her products for the shoot...the cushion and blanket in these images are geo knitted lambswool blanket and cushion in pamplemousse and seal...the quality was suburb and it was great to feature a british craftsperson with a british brand like boden...

...the location house we were shooting in had a picture frame wall and we wanted to use it but it was filled with family photos which was very sweet but not what we needed...so i created some custom artworks and refilled the frames...

...i found a lot of amazing inspiration but unfortunately would never have the budget to be able to buy or hire so much original art for a shoot...

...originally for this shoot we were going to use a vintage wallpaper for one of the shots but couldn't find anything right so i painted a backdrop in a boden print which featured in the story...
